Celebration of World Environmental Day

Celebration of World Environmental Day R C Golaghat celebrated World Environmental Day on 5 June, 2026 at Ganakpukhuri Senior Basic School and 4 No Kumarpatty L P School. On morning half a tree plantation (Mulberry & Guava) drive was conducted with students and teachers at the school campus. An Awareness talk was organized at Ganakpukhuri Senior Basic School in the second half of the day. A speech was delivered on the theme of the year by Rtn Dr Minuara Begum which was attended by students, teachers and Rotarians. After the talk fruit plants were distributed among the students.

Inauguration of District Foundation Grant Project

Rotary Club Of Golaghat, handed over 1 set of Computer Hardware & Software to support E-Learning of the students to Ganakpukhuri Senior Basic School, (UDISE Code 18180103501), which were received by the club against the Rotary District 3240 Foundation for RY-2025-26.The installation and handing over programme was held in a ceremonial way on the day of District Governor Official Club Visit on 11th May, 2026. DG has officially inaugurated the project highlighting the importance of E -learning for school students right from the beginning of school education. This project will benifit approx 439 students as it is the cluster center of Central Educational Block of Golaghat District.

Project Antyodaya

R C Golaghat under Project Antyodaya provided food supplements to Shanti Aloy Old Age Home, Old Amolapatty, Golaghat as an ongoing project every month for its inmates (Female). Under this project the club has provided the dry rations as per requirements of the privately run Old age Home. For the month of May, 2026 the dry rations containing rice, three types of dal, atta, suji, mustard oil, potatoos, onions, garlic, milk, tea leaf, sugars, biscuits, kabuli butts, eggs and few vegetables were handed over to the inmates in the evening of 11th May, 2026 by honourable DG Rtn Dr K S Elangbam. This project Antyodaya meets the requirement of 20 days feedings of the 18 inmates staying there. DG along with Rotarians spent a beautiful evening with the inmates of Shanti Aloy Old Age Home.

Official visit of DG at Adult Literacy Center

District Governor Rtn Dr K S Elangbam visited the Adult Literacy Centre of District Jail Golaghat on 11th May, 2026 on his official club visit following the existing protocol. He was welcomed by Jail superindent along with his staffs with Phulam Gamusa & flower bouquet made by jail inmates. During the visit he inspected the regular class and interacted with the Jail staffs regarding the infrastructure to conduct such an Adult Literacy Centre in coming years.

Land filling at Kathkotia Anganwari Centre

Land filling in an Anganwadi Centre is important to ensure a safe, dry, and healthy environment for children, mothers, and staff. Rotary Club of Golaghat supplied two trucks (Dumpers) of soil to its adopted Anganwadi Centre on 4th April, 2026 to raise low-lying land and prevent waterlogging. It provides safety and hygiene for children, create a level surface for outdoor activities and protect the building foundation from dampness and damage. The filled soil ensures smooth and even surface and provide slight slope to avoid water stagnation. This project converts the small school campus to a Happy Anganwadi Centre.

Celebration of Seed Ball Week

Celebration of Seed Ball Week A plantation drive was organised ton 30th April, 2026 at the "Molai Forest , Jorhat" by the Rotary Club of Golaghat in association with " Seuj Bandhan" as part of the observance of Seed Ball Week. The forest, nurtured over decades by noted environmentalist Padmashree Jadav Payeng, provided an inspiring setting for the programme. Members of both organisations actively participated in planting saplings to enhance green cover and promote environmental awareness. The drive also included seed ball throwing, an eco-friendly method of dispersing seeds over a wider area to facilitate natural regeneration of vegetation. The initiative underscored the importance of community participation in environmental conservation and reaffirmed the commitment of the organisations towards building a greener and more sustainable future.

It was a privilege to share the vision of the Shakti Sankalp Safar conducted by Rtn Pappu Ram Choudhary, Founder & President, Oxyhunger Foundation & Member, Rotary Club of Nagaur (Dist 3053) ?advocating for a Drug-Free India and a Healthy & Fit Nation?with the brave jawans and our dedicated Rotary members. On the occasion we together planted 10 nos of fruit tree in the campus so that it can be cared by the CRPF Jawans. VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME ON VERMICOMPOTING

On behalf of R C Golaghat, Rtn Dr Minuara Begum provided the training to 28 Farmers of three villages-Adharsatra, Chinatoli and 2 No Senchowa gaon organized by Sampriti NGO on 04 Feb, 2026 and the farmers has set up their Vermibeds supplied by the NGO at their home. As a next follow up activity hybrid varieties of earthworms were released in 7 beds out of 28 on 12 April, 2026 so that earthworms can multiply themselves in the vermibeds and casting can release. The sustainable maintenance and utilities of the compost unit will be look after by the farmers under the supervision of Rtn Dr Begum. The project also aimed to protect agricultural crops specially small tea growers and Agaru from harmful use of chemical fertilizers and safeguard the human health and soil resources. The club services offered for small tea growers.

The members discussed with them all the personal matters likes and dislikes about their health and stays at the old age home. VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME ON VERMICOMPOSTING Under the second grant of CSR Scheme of NRL, R C Golaghat has installed a concrete Vermicompost unit at Pub Ancholik Khumtai High School, Golaghat District during the RY 2025-26 on 2nd March, 2026. After construction, a vocational hands-on training was given to the students by Rtn Dr Minuara Begum in such a way that they can learn the process and handle it themselves. The sustainable maintenance and utilities of the compost unit will be look after by the students under the supervision of a mentor teacher. The training was aimed to use the vermicompost by themselves either in school/home or for sale. The students are entrusted to bring cow dungs from home and school will collect the green herbages, weeds, banana trunks from the campus. The project also aimed to protect agricultural crops from harmful use of chemical fertilizers and safeguard the human health and soil resources.

Tribute to Late Apurba Kr Barua R C Golaghat paid tribute to nonagenarian renowned ?Journalist Sirumoni?, founder of ?Saptahik Dhansisi? , Tea Planter, Alumni of Rotary and a distinguished personality of Golaghat Late Apurba Kr Barua at his own residence. He passed away on 18/02 2026 at Guwahati and was cremated at Golaghat on 19th February. As a token of respect, Rotary Club of Golaghat felicitated him on 15th August, 2022 at his residence at Golaghat. On behalf of the club Rtn S S Rahman , President handed over the Condolence message to the bereaved family members. We pray Almighty for eternal peace of the departed Soul.

The Doctor focused on the daily dental care routine, healthy habits for strong teeth, common dental problems and regular visit to Dentist every 6 months especially for school children. TREE PLANTATION DRIVE R C Golaghat executed its second phase of Tree Plantation Drive on 14th December, 2025 at Athabari Tea Estate owned by Rtn Porag Jyoti Saikia. The club has planned to conduct a phase wise plantation drive at Athabari TE and accordingly 10 numbers of climate resilient Cash crop Agaru (Sanchi) and two numbers of Nahar sapling specially to pay tribute to legendary singer Heartthrob Late Zubeen Garg. The plantation was conducted on getting assurance of post plantation care from the Tea garden authority so that it can come up to a fully grown tree. 21 Rotarians and staffs of the Tea Estate join the programme.

The Inaugural speech was given by Rtn S S Rahman, Club President, and mentioned the importance of vocational training for economic and community development which is one of the focus area of R I. An awareness program was organised at Pulibor Adarsha Vidyapith H S School on the topic Balya Bibah as instructed by Govt. of Assam. Principal of the school explained the objective of the program. Rtn Dr Minuara Begum was invited from R C Golaghat to delivered a speech on the topic. She spoke on how poverty, illiteracy, socio cultural and religious customs , ignorance of the family & individuals, human trafficking, child labour and slavery were played a vital role in ocurance of child marriage. and its long lasting effects in ruining the individual and society with some citing examples. She appealed the students to focus on their studies and be alert as a crusador to prevent child marriage from their community, villages.

Observance of World AIDS Day, 2025

World AIDS Day-2025 was observed on 1st December at Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital organized by District Aids Control Society in collaboration with District Health Society, Golaghat. Rtn Dr Minuara Begum was invited from R C Golaghat to preside the meeting organizes for this purpose. At the beginning she lightened the ceremonial lamp along with Dr Dilip Deka, Supdt. Of SKKC Hospital, Golaghat. Dr Malabika Deka, In -charge of AIDS Control Cell, Dr Ranjit Kr Hazarika, Dr Rupok Bora, In -charge of Blood Bank, Dr Robin Tamuly & Dr Dipok Bora spoke on the occasion. The meeting was attended by ASHA karmis, workers of different NGO?S associated, Nurses, Councellors & employees of Hospital were present in the meeting. On her presidential speech Rtn Dr Begum expressed serious concern over the rise of HIV/AIDS infected person specially among the youth. Inauguration of Adult Literacy Center at Jail

Rotary club of Golaghat started an Adult Literacy Center at District Jail, Bogorijeng, Golaghat with the inmates of the jail. Sri A.K. Banerjee, Jail Superintendent delivered the welcome speech. Rtn Syed Sadiqur Rahman, Club president explained the objectives of opening this Adult Literacy Center. The purpose to run this center are to provide basic skills to read, write and numeracy on basic mathematics for daily life confidently in local vernacular language i.e. Assamese. Rotary club of Golaghat observed World Soil Day-2025 on 5th December at Pub Anchalik Khumtai High School to raise awareness about the importance of healty soil and promote sustainable management of soil resources and climate resilience sustainable agriculture. The observance was linked with one of the programme ?Saptadhara? from the School?s authority as instructed by Department of Education, Govt. of Assam. It was attended by students, teachers, Chairman of School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) and Rotarians. Rtn Dr Minuara Begum, Past President delivered the speech on the theme ?Healthy Soil for healthy cities? On her speech she emphasized how urban soil filters water, store carbon and cool cities. The club has supplied Rice, three types of Dal, Atta, Suji, Kabuli Channa, Sugar, Salt, Potatoes, Onions, Garlic, Cooking oils, Biscuits, Tea leaves, and toiletries as per requirements of the old age home. The total beneficiaries were 16 female. The project Antyodaya has been conducted since last 15 months to assist the great lady Srimati Shanti Handique, who is running the Old Age Home with her own initiative.

Vocational Training programme on Vermicomposting

Under the first instalment of Scheme of CSR , NRL, Numaligarh, Assam Rotary Club of Golaghat constructed a concrete Vermicompost Unit at Furkating GJ Balika Vidyalaya during June 2025. After construction, a vocational training program was provided to the girls students by resource person Rtn Dr Minuara Begum, so that they can handle it themselves. The program was attended by Head Master, Members of SMDC, Teachers, Rotarians and students of class VIII & IX (Members of Eco Club). The sustainable maintenance & utilities of the compost unit will be look after by the students under the supervision of a mentor teacher. It was aimed to use the products by themselves either in school or at home . Students are entrusted to bring the cow dung from home & the school authority will collect the green herbage/ weeds from the campus. The project aims to protection of environment & encourage the students community for livelihood from grassroot level.

Rotary Club of Golaghat inaugurated a 2 months Vocational Training Programme on "Free Cutting & Tailoring" on 8th August in association with Phanidhar Bordoloi High School, Golaghat. Rotary Club of Golaghat has installed 6 nos of Usha Sewing Machines at the Skill Development Centre of the school on 8 April, 2024 under District Grant No -2459779. On her inaugural speech she highlighted on various other projects and the incentives/ subsidies offered by the Govt. to start a business. 18 senior women in Golaghat dont have family support, no professional assistance due to Ill health or age related issues. They need companionship, counseling and social interaction to prevent loneliness. They need regular nutritious meals tailored for elderly health. Keeping in mind RC Golaghat find out and decided to support an old age home-Shanti Aloy. The club contribute regularly for approx. 20 days food requirements for 18 womens regularly for every month since last RY. Continuing the project Antyodaya provided Rice, 3 varieties of Dal. Atta, Cooking oil, Potatoes, Onion, Garlic, Milk, Biscuits, Poha, Eggs, Green motors, fruits, oats on 23 July, 2025 to enhance their livelihood & nutritional supports. Rotary Club of Golaghat started a Plantation Drive on the occasion of Van Mahotsav-2025 at District Jail Golaghat campus on 5th July, 2025. Different varieties of 50 numbers of Fruit bearing plant such as Jackfruit, Amla, Mulberry, Olive were planted. The tree plantation program were attended by Jail Superintendent, Jailer and few jail inmates, Mr Devanga Bhushan Das, Ranger, Mr Shasanka Saikia and Mr Jehiruddin Ahmed Forester 1 of Social Forestry, Golaghat, Assam along with President, RC Golaghat and five other Rotarians.
